Weifang Medical University (WFMU)， an university with a hunderd years history， is a state-owned medical
university. It is located in Weifang city,Shandong province, the east of
China. WFMU covers an area over 1,200,000 m2，with 570，000 m2 construction area. Now there
are 24 postgraduate programs, over 740 postgraduates students, and 16
undergraduate programs, over 14,000 students.
WFMU comprises 15 schools and departments， such as School of Humanities and
Social Science, School of Public Health & Management, School of Nursing,
School of Dentistry, Clinical Medicine Department, Anesthesiology Department,
Medical Radiology Department and Preventive Medicine Department. It is also one
of the universities which are authorized to hold HSK.
The university library holds a collection of over 2,100,000 books and 3,000
kinds of Chinese and foreign language journals. There are 12 comprehensive
affiliated hospitals.

WFMU is recognized by WHO, UNESCO,CSC,CMC, and teaches the whole course with
USMLE/PLAB based exam and preparation. The university will provide provisional
certificate after the completion of 5 years course for students who want to do
their internship in some other countries.

Now there are more than 600 international students studying at WFMU, including
410 undergraduates and 195 students in the short-term programs. The students are
mainly from India, Nepal, Pakistan, South Korea, Japan and Vietnam.
WFMU has complete rules and regulations regarding security covering an entire
range of issues. There are also policemen patrolling for 24 hours around the
whole Weifang city. So students are very safe during their study period.
Binzhou Medical University
is a common medical university at provincial level in Shandong Province，
and
its predecessor was the Public Medical School of Shandong University originally
established in 1946. The university follows its school-running tradition that
“teaching comes first, and quality is prior to any others” and that “the
education of man is a fundamental, and moral education has the priority”, and
puts into practices its university dictum of “benevolent mind and wonderful
skills”. Sticking to the centeredness on the cultivation of talents and that on
the improvement of quality, it has trained more than 61,000 talented people in
medicine and medicine-related trades for the society.
Now the university has two campuses, has become the only famous medical
university stretching across two school sites, with distinctive school-running
characteristics and strength and high quality of education. Weifang Medical University
was qualified of granting master’s degree in 2003. In 2006, it passed the
undergraduate teaching evaluation of Ministry of Education with outstanding
achievements. In 2013, the university was among the first pilot universities of
the comprehensive reform of undergraduate programs. It was approved as the
demonstration site of special education at the national level, yielding
outstanding results in succession in the National Clinical Skills Competition
for University Students. It was included in the Shandong Province’s
construction projects of elite universities centered on the cultivation of
applied talents in 2013.
The university covers lands of 2,000 mu (1 mu equates 1/15 hectare) in total,
with its floorage accounting for 630,000 square meters. Its fixed assets total
1.25 billion RMB. In particular, its teaching and scientific apparatuses and
facility count for 209 million RMB in total; its library has a collection of
2.4 million volumes. At present, the university has two directly affiliated
hospitals, 13 indirectly affiliated hospitals, more than 140 teaching hospitals
and practical teaching hospitals, and more than 40 teaching bases for
medicine-related disciplines.
The Cultivation of Talents
The
university insists on taking the cultivation of talents as a center, and on
taking the improvement of quality as a kernel, adhering to such educational
conception as to “take the principle of people foremost, perform qualities
education in all aspects, and realize the unity of basic theoretic knowledge
and practice and innovation abilities, the unity of all-round development and
individuality development, and the unity of scientific spirit and humanity
spirit”. It will constantly deepen its teaching reform, strengthen teaching
administration, improve school-running conditions, perfect the guarantee system
of teaching quality, and endeavor to “cultivate quality talents with quality
education”.
